Obituary: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Richard Soloman Morgan, Sr., 77, who died November 18, 2009 in Opelousas. Rev. Jimmy Broussard will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to the time of service. Interment will be held in Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery. Mr. Morgan was born on June 10, 1932. He was a proud veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served with the United States Army; and was also a longstanding member of the Masonic Lodge in Crowley & Opelousas. He was a man of high moral values, a very proud man. The things most important to him were his family, & his little dog Smokey. He was deeply loved & will be sorely missed by his friends and family. He is survived by two sons, Richard Soloman Morgan, Jr. and his wife Melanie; and Monty Ernest Morgan and his wife Melanie both of Sunset; three grandchildren, Alexis Brienne Morgan, Katelyn Paige Morgan, and Madison Bailey Morgan; three sisters, Violet, Wilda, and Irma Lee; and three brothers, Kenneth, Brian, and Merlin. Mr. Morgan is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Sarver Morgan who died April 13, 2009; one son, Vincent Edmond Morgan; one sister, Ruth; and two brothers, Wynan, and O.B. Richard was the son of Soloman and Annie Hoffpauir Morgan (Annie, Neville, Asa A., John Hardy, Francois, Thomas)
