LAKE ARTHUR - Funeral services for Mrs. Elmo A. (Gursey Hoffpauir) Romero Sr., 70, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2003, from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
The Rev. Maurice Martineau will officiate. Burial will be in Thornwell Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Visitation is 4-10 p.m. today, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday — with a rosary at 6 p.m. led by Martineau — and from 8 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Romero died at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003, in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. She was a native of Kaplan and a resident of the Lake Arthur-Thornwell area for 46 years. Survivors include her husband, Elmo A. Romero Sr. of Thornwell; one daughter, Jeanette Poole of Hayes; two sons, Elmo A. Romero Jr., of Morse and Larry J. Romero of Hayes; two sisters, Relsia Trahan of Port Acres, Texas, and Alice Guidry of Bell City; three brothers, Albert Hoffpauir, Willie Hoffpauir and Lawrence Hoffpauir, all of Hayes; and five grandchildren.
