OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 3 p.m. in Melancon Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas for John Hoffpauir, age 87, who passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 12:50 a.m. at his residence in Opelousas. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. The Rev. Dr. Perry Hubbs, pastor of First Baptist Church of Opelousas, will officiate at the services. Mr. Hoffpauir was a native of the Indian Bayou area and a resident of Opelousas for most of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Opelousas where he was an usher. Mr. Hoffpauir was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Opelousas.
Survivors include his wife, the former Dolores Young of Opelousas; one son, Terry Hoffpauir and his wife, Kim, of Houma; one daughter, Dolores H. Young and her husband, Johnny, of Longview, Texas; three step sons, Charles L. Ledoux and his wife, Cathy, and Otis M. Ledoux, all of Opelousas, and Travis G. Ledoux and his wife, Norma, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Velma Perry and Georgia Rae Atkinson, both of Sulphur; sixteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Erette Hoffpauir; his parents, Bennett Hoffpauir and the former Angeline Carlin; one daughter, Johnette Thompson; one step son, William Billy Ledoux; one brother, Sanford Hoffpauir; and three sisters, Ruth Champagne, Bernice Chessen, and Genevive Bryant. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:30 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday. My grandmother is his sister Velma Perry. His stepson Billy Ledoux passed away this past Monday April 18, 2005.
