The Catholic Church at Grand Coteau, LA has records of multiple baptisms in July, 1839. This record indicates the following; Michel, age 17; Marie Sylvanie, age 10; Jean Pierre, age 8; Paul, age 5; Martin, age 3; Olympe, age 1.
A copy of a birth and baptismal record obtained from the Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA did not inticate who his grandparents were as hoped, but his sponsors were Pierre Trahan and Francois Algreffe. They turned out to be his great uncle [the brother of his maternal grandmother Christine Trahan], and his uncle's wife Francoise Algrot. These church records confirm the family of the 1830 census with the exception of one son which would have been 19 or older in 1839.
