Burial
Obituary: Daniel Vail Hoffpauir, 81, passed away on July 21, 2008, in his residence. Mr. Hoffpauir was a native of Crowley, and moved to the Lake Charles area as a boy. He was a charter member of Lakewood Bible Fellowship where he served on the church board. He was a World War II veteran having served his country as a radio operator in the United States Navy. Farming was his passion and he spent his life raising rice, soybeans, and cattle. He served on the board and as president of the Calcasieu Parish Farm Bureau. He also served on the Louisiana Farm Bureau state board. He had a great love for missions and served on the International Missions Board of FEW Ministries. Mr. Hoffpauir is survived by his four sons, John Hoffpauir and wife Debbie, and Rick Hoffpauir and wife Becky of Lake Charles, Ray Hoffpauir and wife Lisa of Moss Bluff, and Dale Hoffpauir and wife Carmen of Geismar; two daughters, Gay Taylor and husband Joe of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Judy Brown and husband Quinton of Lake Charles; one sister, Lois Koonce of Sulphur; and one brother, L. A. Hoffpauir of Lake Charles; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Edith Hoffpauir, sister, Helen Joiner, and great-grandson, Gavin Helmer. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2008, in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Dale Hoffpauir will officiate. Burial will be in Highland, Memory Garden.
