Ovie O'Quinn

SULPHUR - Funeral services for Ovie O'Quinn, 78, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, in Robison Funeral Home. The Rev. Ed Brunnert will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Thursday.
Mr. O'Quinn died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, in a local care center. He was a native of the Sulphur area and a former longtime resident of Texas. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School. He was a Navy veteran, and he served in World War II. He was a retired Sun Oil Co. worker. He was a member of the VFW. He was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Hoffpauir O'Quinn of Sulphur; two sons, Gordon O'Quinn of Willard, Mo., and David O'Quinn of China, Texas; three stepsons, Tim Dougherty and Brian Dougherty, both of Carlyss, and John Dougherty of Sulphur; four stepdaughters, Theresa Mallett and Trudy Durkes, both of Carlyss, Mary Vincent of Hackberry and Jeanne Hughes of LaCamp; one brother, Ivy O'Quinn of Sulphur; four grandchildren; 25 stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren.
