Emigration

Edward arrived in VA c. 1769 with two unidentified brothers and was an indentured servant to Lord Fairfax in return for his passage to VA. Edward’s family had been merchants and horse dealers in England.

Marriage

They were married by a traveling preacher along the Pennsylvania and Virginia border.
