Col. Jonathan Hunt was one of the early settlers in the "Jersey Settlement" of Rowan Co., NC. (This area became Davie Co. in 1836.) He had three wives and 19 children before his death in 1783. He served in French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War, attaining the rank of Colonel in the North Carolina Militia. He was a Patriot of considerable importance in North Carolina.
