Benjamin SMOTHERS

Benjamin Smothers lived in Mercer County, Missouri with his family. He deserted his wife and 7 children in April of 1846. His family did not hear from him again. His wife remarried in 1849.

He killed James Kirk in Princeton, Missouri. He was caught, charged with murder, then escaped and was never recaptured. He was, however, seen afterwards in Indiana.
