Note	1 Jan 1878	The Cootamundra Herald reported that Ben's untimely death at the age of 47 was from alcoholism. Apparently Sarah Ann had left him some 3 weeks before and taken their youngest child with her, leaving the other 5 behind with the oldest only 12. It was reported that this only made his drinking worse and for several days before his death he had not taken any food
