Henry Nolte Geitz

(21 Sep 1891 - 16 Mar 1988)

I remember many things about Uncle Henry. He was able to communicate in German with distant relations in Germany. Like his wife Emma, he liked playing cards. They played cards with the Millers (I only remember Amanda's name) in nearby Mount Royal every week. Whenever I visited as a teenager for a week, I was invited to go with them. Uncle Henry knew where every Geitz and Broschard was buried in Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, and looked after the graves. He also knew where all of the Oddfellow (he was a member of the IOOF) veterans were buried and made sure that flags were placed at the graves for "Decoration" (now Memorial) Day. He loved to walk, and I went on many hikes around the township with him. From 1980 to about 1988, mother Barbara F. (Broschard) Veley and I moved into 7 East Cohawkin Road, Clarksboro, the other half of the duplex that Henry and Emma owned (they lived in No. 9). I ultimately acquired the property, and owned it for several years after Henry and Emma died, using it as an income property.
