Death
Mr. Herman Eugene (Gene) Hoover, 85, of Eddinger Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Pine Ridge Heath and Rehabilitation. Gene was born in Randolph County to the late John David Hoover and Sallie Younts on February 28, 1934. Mr. Hoover married the love of his life, Lola Mae Hunt on December 15, 1956. He worked for many years in the furniture industry, retiring from Modern Carving at age sixty two. Gene was an avid baseball fan and faithful member of Colonial Baptist Church. Also he enjoyed raising chickens, which won many awards at various county fairs. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lola Mae Hunt Hoover, on October 7, 2009; step mother, Mildred Eddinger Hoover; four siblings, David John Hoover Jr., Bobby Hoover, Shirley Hunt, and Harvey Hoover. Surviving are his daughter, Lisa Powers of Thomasville; his son Mickey Hoover and wife Shelia of Wallburg; three grandchildren, Will Hoover, Andy Hoover, Derrick Powers; four siblings, Tommy Hoover and wife Lois of Thomasville, Patsy Childers and husband Mickey of Trinity, Peggy Kinley of Archdale, Johnny Hoover and wife Rebecca of Reidsville. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Colonial Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Jarvis and Rev. Kenny Coker officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the J.C. Green and Sons funeral home in Thomasville.Endnotes
