Death

Graveside services for Jack E. Briles, Sr., 85, of Jeffersonville, IN, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, IN, with burial to follow. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 PM on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Legacy Funeral Center in Jeffersonville, IN. He passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born on September 21, 1933 in Corydon, IN. He served for the Army National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post 28. Jack was the retired owner of Briles Masonry. He was known by many for his wisdom and work ethic. Along with being a genealogist, Jack was cemetery restorationist. He was also a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Most importantly, he was a loving father and devoted husband. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and cared deeply for his pets.
Along with his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Betty Briles; son, Jay Robert Briles; son-in-law, Jack Goodhue; and siblings, Lloyd Wilkinson, Anna Lea Byrnes, and Kathryn Head.
He is survived by his children, Jack Briles, Jr. (Alma), Virginia Goodhue, and John Briles, Sr. (Dawn); daughter-in-law, Sheril Lynn Briles; 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
