— Mary “Magdalene” Kinley McDowell, 86, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018.
Magdalene was born in Randolph County on April 26, 1932, to David Theodore Kinley and Treva Lee Hughes Kinley. Magdalene retired from Four Seasons Apparel in Thomasville. She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Randolph County and currently attended Thomasville Church of God.
Magdalene was preceded in death by husband, James McDowell; two sisters, Emma Jane Hunt and Dot Sluder; and one brother, Homer Kinley.
Surviving are daughters, Sandra McDowell Greene and husband Wesley of Thomasville, and Janet McDowell Pikula and husband Louis of Winston Salem; sister, Shirley Ann Saunders (Lonnie) of Asheboro; brother, Benny Kinley (Lou) of Lexington; four grandchildren, Misty Embry, Ricky Greene and Julia and Louis Pikula; great-grandchildren, Jalyn, Paitlyn and Makinlee; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Magdalene’s life will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m., prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
