Dorothy “Dot” Kinley Sluder, 81, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Pine Ridge Health and Rehab after a long illness.
A Celebration of Dot’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Thomasville Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Darrell Sluder Jr. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until the service Tuesday.
Dot was born in Randolph County on Feb. 16, 1934, a daughter of David Theodore Kinley and Treva Hughes Kinley. She was a retired school bus driver with 30 years of service with the Davidson County Schools. Dot loved growing flowers and enjoyed working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Emma Jane Hunt and brother Homer Kinley. Alzheimer’s took Dot’s mind but not her love for her family.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Autry Sluder; daughter Debra Thompson and husband Greg; two sisters, Mary Magdaline McDowell and Shirley Saunders and her husband Lonnie; brother Benny Kinley and wife Lou; and numerous nieces and nephews.
