Marriage info from death and marriage notices of the Oneonia Herald (see www.rootsweb.com). The notice also states they were married by Rev. J.W. Smith. On page 29 of Dr. Bangs book on the life of Phineas F. Bresee, show James W. Smith as pastor of the Charlotte Circuit of the Methodist Church which included the village of Davenport and the West Davenport Methodist Church during the year of 1856. Per Dr. Bangs, the church was a block from Phineas P. Bresee's store in West Davenport.
