Edmund Marshall

(Abt 1598 - Bef Sep 1673)

See "A memorial of the town of Hampstead, New Hampshire" Vol II by Harriette Eliza Noyes dated 1903, pages 780-781. Edmund Marshall was of Salem, MA in 1636. He was a freeman in MA, May 17, 1637. He had lands granted him there in 1638. In 1650 he bought lands at "Kettle Cove", about one half a mile from Gloucester boundary, upon which is now built the summer residence of the Hon. T. Jefferson Coolidge, late minister to France. After 1657 he was of Ipswich and later of Newbury, MA. He was a weaver. His wife and children are shown.

Per "History of the town of Stratford NH 1773-1925" by Jeannette R. Thompson, page 420: per the book "Shakerism Exposed" by Mrs Mary (Marshall) Dyer printed 1847 in Concord, states that his son, Benjamin Marshall, was from Scotland, settled in Essex, MA, had four children: John, Edmund, Benjamin and Ezekiel. This then shows the family may have been born in Scotland. Need research.
