See "History and Genealogy of the families of Old Fairfield" by Donald L. Jacobus, FHC Film 599305 page 106 showing "Mary daughter of Francis Brown from his first marriage. Born about 1655; mentioned by Winthrop as ae. 12 in 1667 but living with Nathaniel Ruscoe of Hartford as his adopted daughter. Ruscoe called her his kinswoman in his will 1673. Married Thomas Hurlbut of Fairfield." It appears that Mary's mother died soon after Mary's birth in 1655 since her father remarried at Stamford in 1657 and in 1667 Mary was living in Harthford with another family. On page 316 shows her childern and that the will of Francis Brown of Rye, dated 5 Feb 1685/6 mentioned his son as Thomas Hollibird (should say his son-in-law).
