See "Bouton, Boughton and Farnam Families" by Willis A. Boughton dated 1949 page 137 from Heritage Quest. Shows he was the son of John Benedict II and Mary Hoyt. Marriage date of 28 Feb 1730, is after the birth of son, John, born 11 Sept 1724 (?).
The "The Hickok genealogy: descendants etc." incorrectly show the children from his first wife, Anna St. John. The mother was most likely Mary Hoyt, his second wife.

Dinah and her husband were received into the New Canaan Congregational Church by a letter of recommendation, presumably from Norwalk, on 20 June 1733.(1) She was still alive when her father wrote his will on 20 December 1746. That will refers to his daughter Dinah Benedict and his son-in-law Deacon John Benedict.
