Capt. William Marshall

In the book "A memorial history of Hampstead, New Hampshire" Vol. I by Harriette Eliza Noyes dated 1903, page 781: William Marshall, son of Benjamin Marshall, married Sarah Buswell, of Salisbury, MA, moved to "Ahmsbury Peak", that is now a part of Hampstead. He build the house in East Hampstead at "Marshall's Corner" as seen in the cut following page 320, Vol. I. He had all three of his children with Sarah born there. Shows his other two wifes.
In the book "A memorial of the town of Hampstead, New Hampshire" Vol II by Harriette Eliza Noyes dated 1903, pages 361, 375, 518, 722, 780-783. "Capt. William Marshall came from Essex, Mass. and died in Hampstead, age 96 years."
Per "History of the town of Stratford NH 1773-1925" by Jeannette R. Thompson, page 420: "William Marshall settled in Hampstead and married Sarah Buswell. He was much of a business man. Previous to the Revolutionary War, he had been an officer in the King's Regiment. He was also a wealthy merchant and land owner in Hampstead and adjoining towns. At the Stamp Act he renounced the authority of the king and exclaimed, 'We can be an independent nation." In the time of the war he did much for the inhabitants of Coos. He would wear only home-made clothes. He lived to be ninety-six years and four months. His last counsel was "You must be honest and always speak the truth."

William Marshall's father, Benjamin, in his will which was admitted to probate Oct. 19, 1747: "I give and bequeath to my son William, and his heirs and assigns forever, the whole of my land and interest in Almsbury Peak within the Province of New Hampshire."Marriage
