The agreement between Griffith Rowland and John B. Crum, his son-in-law,said that John B. Crum was to have use of their farm for supporting Griffith and Jane his wife during their natural lives and was to receive 50 acres from the farm after their deaths. Also, he was to pay William Rowland (son of Griffith and Jane Rowland) $100 within four years after the death of the of Griffith Rowland and Jane, his wife. If John B. Crum or his wife, Maria (Griifith's daughter), died during the lifetime of Griffith and Jane Rowland, then the survivor of them (John B. or Maria Crum) was to give up possession of the farm (50 acres).
Probate
John B. Crum leaves his wife, Maria, "one spotted mare and one brindled cow" and his daughter, Maria Jane, "one spotted two year old heifer and one bay two year old filly." His personal property was to be sold and any money that was left after his estate was settled was to be divided as follows: his wife was to receive half and the other half was to be divided between his daughter and Isaac Rowland, the son of his brother-in-law, William Rowland. His will was written on 10 March 1847 and probated on 22 May 1847. Witnesses were D. W. Williams and Griffith Griffiths. D. W. Williams was his wife's first cousin.Endnotes
