Birthdate is based on date of death and age of 43 years, 2 months, and 10 days given on tombstone.Probate
Maria Jane Stiles leaves 1/3 of her property to her husband, Luther Stiles; 1/3 to her daughter, Laura Ella Stiles; and 1/3 to her son, Charles Wesley Stiles. Her husband can remain on the farm as long as he wishes but it is to be sold and the proceeds divided between her two children after he leaves. She states that one part of the farm on which they live she inherited from her father, John B. Crum, and the other part of the farm was transferred to her by deed from Joseph Craig. It should be noted that this was her mother's second husband. Also, she did not inherit part of the farm from her father, John B. Crum, but from her grandfather, Griffith Rowland, through her mother, Maria. Her will was written 28 September 1874 and was probated 5 October 1875. Her husband, Luther Stiles, was named as executor. Witnesses were John T. Evans, Thomas E. Davis, and Elias Rowland.Endnotes
