In the proof of settlement certificate John stated he hath resided upwards of 5 years on the tract and now actually residing thereon with his family under and for McCall; he has 20 acres cleared, fenced, and cultivated, a house, and annually raised crops. Mathew Dougan and Patrick McElroy stated the facts are true. The note was signed by the Justice of the Peace, Maurice Bredin.Property

The death certificate for John and Mary's son Martin George Bash who died in Sheridan, Wyoming in 1912 gives her maiden name as Mary Snow. John and Mary Bash were living in Donegal Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania at the time of their marriage. The only elder Snow living in Donegal Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania was John Snow, Sr. His will names all his daughters and their spouses but Mary was not one one of them.Endnotes
