Individual Details
Ellen W. CONNER
(Aft 25 Sep 1825 - 22 May 1875)
There is a daughter Ellen listed when Ann Conner petitioned the Court in 1839 for a guardian for her minor children. This is not the same person as Elizabeth Ellen Ribblet since Anna Conner had a daughter Ellen age 19 living with her in Burnside Township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania in the 1850 census. There is a Elizabeth Ribblet and an Ellen Conner listed in the 1850 census so they are two separate people. The Indiana County History states Ellen Conner married Joseph Lentz. Death certificates in Pennsylvania between 1906 and 1963 on Ancestry.com list three people with parents named Joseph Lentz and Ellen Conner: William Lentz (1862-1934), Marshel Brinton Lentz Sr. (1866-1952), and Mrs. Ellen C. Ribblet (1874-1951). These three were siblings and are in the 1870 and/or 1880 censuses with their father Joseph Lentz. Joseph and Ellen Lentz appear in the 1860 census in Elizabeth, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and in the 1870 census in North Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Ellen died in 1875 according to her tombstone. Joseph Lentz appears in the 1880 census with his wife Mary and his children in Larimer, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
There is a marriage record in Westmoreland County for Martha B. Lentz and James Edwin Ryan on 1 December 1888 that shows she was born in Indiana County about 1854 to Joseph and Ellen Lentz. This places Joseph Lentz who married Ellen Conner in Indiana County in the mid 1850's.
The information given in the biography for Jacob S. Conner in the Indiana County History by Arms and White has been verifed to the extent possible and appears to be fairly accurate overall.

Notes
Birth
Ellen's birth date is calculated from the date of death and age given on her tombstone. There is less than 6 months between Ellen's birth on 9 September 1831 and her sister Martha's birth date on 2 March 1832. The 1900 census for Martha gives her birthdate as March 1832. Martha's birthdate is calculated from the date of death and age given on her tombstone. One of them has to be wrong.Endnotes
