Notes
Military
Ross was only 15 years old when he first enlisted during the Civil War. He enlisted several times.1) Enlisted in Company C, Pennsylvania 105th Infantry Regiment on 24 October 1861. Mustered out on 8 November 1862.
2) Enlisted in Company A, Pennsylvania 135th Infantry Regiment on 10 February 1863. Mustered out on 24 May 1863 at Harrisburg, PA.
3) Enlisted in Company G, Pennsylvania 2nd Infantry Battalion on 23 July 1863. Mustered out on 21 January 1864.
4) Enlisted in the Regular Army Signal Corps Infantry 27 February 1864. Mustered out 7 September 1865.
According to his obituary he was severely injured at the second Bull Run battle while with the 105th Infantry (August, 1862) and was present at the capture of Mobile (August, 1864).
