Birth
The birth date given in the transcribed obituary on Find A Grave is the correct one since it agrees with the information given on the application for a marriage license. She was 18 when she applied for a marriage license in February 1886. If she was born in December 1867, she would have been 18 in February 1886. If she was born in December 1869 as her death certificate states, she would have been 16 when she applied for a marriage license in February 1886 rather than 18. Since the marriage license application was made during her lifetime, it is considered more reliable than birthdate on the death certificate that was supplied by an informant.Endnotes
