Conflict: Malo, Hawaiian Antiquities, p 238 lists 2 generations between Wailoa and Waia: Nanakehili as Wailoa's father and Hinanalo as grandfather, and Waia's son. Kamakau, Ruling Chiefs of Hawaii, p 447 also lists Hina-ualo as Waia's son paired to Hau-nu'u (w) with Kakai-hili as son. Na Kuahau Kolakou mau inoa, G-14, p 2 and Genealogy, Volume I. G-44, p 2 similarly lists parents as Nakehili and Haulani and grandparents as Hinanalo (k) and Haunuu (w), which the current line shows as his brother and sister-in-law.

Similarly, McKinzie, Hawaiian Genealogies, vol 2 p 6 and He Buke Mookuauhau Alii, Hms G13, p 36 and Peleioholani, Genealogy of the Robinson Family and Ancient Legends and Chants of Hawaii, p 19 list his and his mate Hikawaakaunu's parents as Haulani (w) and Nanakehili (k), son of Haunuu (w) and Hinanalo (k), son of Waia and Hunehune (w).
