LIFE
A. Birth year 1560 estimated with Stokes' standard 20 years, plus 3 years prior to son Makakaualii, as we was the second child of Kukailani and Kaohukiokalani.
B. Although rightful heir to his father, because his father had not named him as successor, the uncle Keawenui assumed the sovereignty (Kalakaua, The Legends and Myths of Hawaii, p 335).
