( - )
LINEAGE
Conflict: Peleioholani, Genealogy of the Robinson Family and Ancient Legends and Chants of Hawaii, p 25 lists mother Hooipoikamalanai as a mate of Moikeha different from Hinauulua.
LIFE
A. Named for Luukia, mate of Olopana (Kamakau, Tales and Traditions of the People of Old, p 106).
B. He grew up on Oahu (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 56).
Conflict: Kamakau, Tales and Traditions of the People of Old, p 106-108 describes that Kila grew up on Kauai.
C. His father Moikeha asked him and his older brothers to bring Laa back from Kahiki to become chief on Kauai. Upon return, Kila settled on Hawaii and became a chief there. "Thus Kila became a chiefly ancestor for the chiefs of Hawaii and Maui, as well as for commoners." (Kamakau, Tales and Traditions of the People of Old, p 106-108). After the voyage to Raiatea to bring Laa to see his father Moikeha, Kila established himself in the valley of Waipio, Hawaii where his uncle and father had lived (Kalakaua, The Legends and Myths of Hawaii, p 135). He was a resident of Waipio, Hawaii (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 56).
D. Fragment: several prominent families trace their ancestry to Kila (Kalakaua, The Legends and Myths of Hawaii, p 135). "If you look at the mo'o ku'auhau of Nana'ulu you will see there descendants of Kila, among them La'akapu, the wife of Kahoukapu; Ka-puka-mola, wife of Maka-kau-alii; and Piilani-wahine, wife of Kama-lala-walu, the chief of Maui" (Kamakau, Tales and Traditions of the People of Old, p 108).
