Helekunihi Genealogy, Hms G54, p 46
list mother as Keawekane. McKinzie, Hawaiian Genealogies, vol 2 p 22 name her as Kanakeawe. One of Kaihikapu's mates was Kanakeawe. She could be the mother OR Kanakeawe could be an alternate name for KaluaaHoohila.
Conflict: Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 277 states he was ruler of Oahu like his father Kanekapu. McKinzie, Hawaiian Genealogies, vol 1 p 15 indicate father was Kanekapu-a-Kakuhihewa with mother Kalua-a-Hoohila. Kamakau, Tales and Traditions of the People of Old, p 87 make a case for parents as Kanekapu (son of Kakuihewa) and Kalua-a-Hoohila, aka Kaha-maluihi . Pukui, Hawaiian Genealogies, p 24 identifies father as Kanepahu-a-Kakuhihewa, as does Ahlo et al, Kamehameha's Children Today, p 183.
Kamakau, Tales and Traditions of the People of Old, p 88 states that Fornander "erroneously ascribes Ka'ihikapu-a-Kakuhihewa as the ancestor of Kuali'i, although the descent is followed correctly in his text."
Conflict: Peleioholani, Genealogy of the Robinson Family and Ancient Legends and Chants of Hawaii, p 26 lists mother as Ipuwaiahoalani.
