LIFE
A. He was ruler of Maui succeeding his father Piilani (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 86,205; Kamakau, Tales and Traditions of the People of Old, p 50).
B. Oukah, Hawaiian Royal & Noble Genealogies, p 221 indicates he mated with Kapohelemaiawalu of Hawaii . However, she lived many generations after him.
C. He died in battle with Umi-a-Liloa near Hana, Maui (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 98). He died in Wailuku, Maui in fear upon hearing of Kiha-a-Piilani and Umi-a-Liloa had invaded from Hawaii (Kamakau, Ruling Chiefs of Hawaii, p 31). "Lono was killed in battle by his brother, Kiha-a-Piilani" (Oukah, Hawaiian Royal & Noble Genealogies, p 221).
