The funeral for Morris Winsness of Oakes, ND, will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, Oakes, ND, with Reverend Mike Kraemer officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. also at the Church. Burial will be at the Oakes View Cemetery.
Morris Stanley Winsness, son of Jens and Johanna (Jensen) Winsness was born December 19, 1920 at Cogswell, North Dakota. Morris entered the U.S. Army on October 20, 1942, serving during World War II. After his discharge on November 9, 1945, he returned to the Oakes area. Over the years, Morris worked for area farmers, including the Marlyn Harris, Adolph Buchholz, Jerry Rodine, and Daniel Frojen families, until his retirement when he was 80 years old. He became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, North Dakota in May of 1999.
Morris was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He loved his church and it was a very meaningful moment to him when he was baptized in 2010. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Morris passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010, at the Oakes Community Hospital. He was 89 years old.
He is survived by two nephews and a niece, Laurie (Carol) Buchholz, Napoleon, ND, Linda (Arnie) Ikel, Tacoma, WA; and Robert (Lety) Buchholz, Harlingen, TX. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Svend and a sister, Myra Buchholz.
