Individual Details
Ole Persen Sandrø
(1 Jun 1860 - 5 Jun 1934)
Immigrated to America.
From his grandson, Orlan L. Sandro we have the following:
Jim, my grandfather used the initial P. as his fathers first name was Peter. My grandfathers date of death was 3/27/l922. I have my mothers middle name as Peterson, this is her fathers name so correct as listed. My wife, Dorothy's maiden name was Seefeldt. Her mothers maiden name was Peterson but Dorothy's fathers name was Seefeldt. Ole Sandro and his brother Ellef, (Gusts (father)came together, they were the only two in the family. They worked on the railroad near Brookings when they came. Gust told me he saw a letter Ole had received from his father telling Ole to be sure Ellef didn't work to hard as he was so young. I think Ole was about 18 to 20 years old and Ellef was 4 years younger. Ole homesteaded north of Hendricks and Ellef purchased a farm west of Hendricks. Yes, I heard in Singgsas that I was related to the Winsness's. I've been to Norway three times and I hope to go again this summer.I speak Norwegian pretty well, In fact they told me in Singsas that I could walk down the street in Singsas and they wouldn't know I was from America, My dialect was so good. Both Ole and Ellef farmed. My father had two brothers, Edward and Peter and a sister Bertha. They have all passed away now. I will be having my 80th. birthday this summer. Great to hear from you, I admire you for all the work you've done. I really appreciate it as I'm very interest in Singsas, Norway and my family history. If I can help you in any way, please let me know. Orlan
