Anne Berntsdatter Oien Hindbjørgen

(26 Jun 1856 - 1 Jan 1912)

Emigrated on 9 June 1878 on the Tasso per Jens Winsnes' Emigrants from Singsaas

Jens provided explanation of Singsaasboka Bind III page 276-278:
I found your Anne's baptism records:

The text in the entry is a little hard to interpret, but I read it as this. The main person in this case is Anne Berntsdatter ..... (seems that she, as many poor people did, took different last names depending on where she lived...). She was born June 26 and baptised July 20, 1856.The following conclusions are based on the baptism records coupled with the Singsås Bygdebok.

Father: Bernt Ambrosiussønn Forseth --> in the entry he is listed as a miner. This means that Bernt (the father) is the grandson of Bernt Ambrosiussønn Forseth b 1772 (Forseth --> Norstu - born Morset (-plass) ). Bernt's mother descends from Andreas Jonsen Singsås b 1755 (Søgår'n).

Mother: Her mother is listed as Kari Olsdatter Høsflotten b 1833. She later took the name Løvrød after her mother. Her parents are Ola Olsen Høsflott b (born Engen, Søgår'n) and Anne Larsdatter Løvrød b (Nor'g). Kari Olsdatter later married Nils Svensen Hindbjørgen b 1844 (Nor'g), Anne was by then a widow according to Bygdeboka.

The reason for the name Høsflott is probably that she (Kari Olsdatter) lived there when she had Anne out of wedlock (guess).

Anne's sponsors in the baptism are listed as: Ingrid Olsdatter Høsflotten (Lilleflott, came from Rendalen long story...), Anne Hansdatter Forseth b 1811 (her father's aunt, picture of her in the Bygdebok), Else Berntsdatter Forseth (her father's first cousin), Peder Forseth (??), Bern forseth (her father's uncle), and Ola Nilsen Engen b 1831 (her mother's uncle).
