Selma Marian Morseth was born on April 30, 1922 in Marble Township, Lincoln County Minnesota to Andrew and Marie (Helland) Nefstead. She was the 9th of 10 children, and at the age of 6, Selma lost her mother. She soon began to assume many responsibilities around the home, and at the age of 11 was in charge of the household. She attended district #72 country school for eight years, and then transferred to Ivanhoe High School where she graduated in 1940. She was baptized and confirmed at nearby Marble Lutheran Church.
On July 6, 1942 Selma married Harvey Morseth at the Lutheran Free Church in Hendricks. They lived in Minneapolis until Harvey joined the US Navy. They were separated for three years while Harvey was stationed in Northern Ireland and Southern England. After his honorable discharge in 1945, they purchased the farm south of Hendricks where they raised their 7 children, served as stewards of this land, and made wonderful memories.

In 1984 they retired and moved into Hendricks. They enjoyed volunteering in the community and did some traveling. They especially cherished time spent with family and friends, including their numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Selma was known for her excellent cooking, sewing, and quilting skills. She satisfied her dreams of being a poet or singer through her love of music and of the spoken word. She loved to read and could recite a number of favorite poems that she had committed to memory. She enjoyed drawing, tending to her plants, playing scrabble and doing crossword puzzles. She had a sharp wit and a playful sense of humor.

Selma was devoted to her Christian faith and faithfully served in several roles at Faith Lutheran Church. She had a deep love for Jesus and trusted in Him as her Lord and Savior. She worked for a period of time as a nursing assistant and trained medication aide at the Hendricks Nursing Home, where she ultimately became a resident. She was a member of the Help Each Other Extension Club, New Grove Little Club and Literary Club.

Selma will be greatly missed by sons: Brian Morseth, Minneapolis, MN; Joel (Shelley) Morseth, St. Cloud, MN; Aaron (Angie) Morseth, Hendricks, MN; daughters: Marie (Rollie) Trooien, Astoria, SD; Brenda (Stephen) Olson, Sioux Falls, SD; Sheila (Don) Engelstad, Hendricks, MN; Gayle (Greg) Woodall, Sioux Falls, SD along with 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She is now blissfully reunited with her beloved husband Harvey as well as with her parents Andrew and Marie; five brothers and four sisters and infant great granddaughter Emma.

Blessed be her memory.
