Hendricks, MN - Richard E. Engesmoe, age 80, of Hendricks, MN died Saturday, August 6, 2011 in the Hendricks Nursing Home in Hendricks, MN. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks, MN. Rev. Kirk Meseck will officiate. Burial will be in the Singsaas Lutheran Cemetery, Hendricks, MN. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. lead by Rev. Bob Neff on Tuesday, August 9th in the Hendricks Hospital Chapel in Hendricks and will Wednesday resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Richard Ernest Engesmoe was born on December 25, 1930 in Hansonville Township to Emil and Olga (Ramlo) Engesmoe. He was baptized and confirmed at Singsaas Lutheran Church. Richard spent his childhood and youth on the family farm north of Hendricks. He attended rural school through the eighth grade in District 42 in Hansonville Township, and continued in the Hendricks High School graduating in 1949. Richard married Barbara Lovre on October 12, 1957. Richard farmed with his dad and brother-in-law until 1980. He then was a self employed carpenter through the Hendricks Farmers Lumber Company until retirement in 2005, when he had a stroke. He spent the last two years at the Hendricks Nursing Home where he received great care from a compassionate staff. Richard passed away at the Hendricks Nursing Home on Saturday, August 06, 2011 at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 12 days. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks and many music groups, including the Singsaas Choir, Christ Lutheran Choir, Fiesta Grande Choir, Canby Men's Glee Club, and the Joy Singers. Richard enjoyed traveling with his dad, waterskiing, and singing. In fact, he was one of the first to ski on Lake Hendricks in 1949, and also skied after a total knee replacement at the age of 70. Richard and Barbara enjoyed traveling and spending many winters in Casa Grande, Arizona, along with camping with friends and the 7 grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gordon; sister, Grace and her husband Bennie Thorson and granddaughter, Andrea Lovseth.

He is survived by his wife Barb, daughter Lori (Bruce) McKirdy, and their children Josh (Kelsey) Lovseth, Jenny (Corey) Stenson, Nick & Luke McKirdy; son Paul (Lori) Engesmoe, their children Kristopher, Tyler, and Brittany; along with two great-grandsons, Cayson Stenson and Jack Lovseth, 3 nephews and several cousins.
