Oline Johannesdatter Landrø

(28 Jun 1868 - 22 Apr 1966)

From Dag Einar Winsness, July 1, 1998;

Oline left Vinsnes in 1920 and the picture you mentioned is Svend's confirmation-picture. She worked as a sewer/dressmaker. She travelled a lot to other farms to do sewing there. I guess the farming part was done by others from the other parts of Vinsnes (Nordstu, Sørstu, ...), I'm just guessing. In 1920 her son Svend was 16 and I suppose she saw a brighter future in the big city, Trondheim. Her only link to Vinsnes, apart from having lived there 3 decades, was her mother-in-law Kari. Her husband from Vinsnes had died 25 years ago, her other son had left for America 10 years ago and her son Svend was the result of a outside-marriage relationship with a Swedish railroad-worker. That last bit was a shame those days. Maybe this had something to do with Jens emigrating to America at only 18?
