About Thomas Deacon, IIIThomas Deacon was descended from an old Hertfordshire gentry family whose original Norman name was de Akeley. This family was very close to the Wydville family, their lands being adjacent to each other, and several prominent knights and Yeoman of the Kings Guard, as well as a secretary to Queen Elizabeth Wydville were members of this family. Each branch has a distinctive coat of arms.

Date of death taken from a will published 20 June 1582, Bovingdon, HertfordThe will of Thomas Deacon of Bovington, Hertfordshire. He is called a Yeoman. The testator directs that his body be buried in the churchyard at Bovington and makes a small bequest to the poor. He names his three daughters Awdry, Margaret and Marie and his sons Roger and Thomas both of whom were minors.
Wife Joan and her brother Richard Allen are the executors.
