[[Category:Hillmorton, Warwickshire]]
==Biography==Isabel's origins are unknown although the Bailey family appears with the Perkins family in some legal records of Hillmorton.
It is clear from the baptismal records of her children, that Michael Gater's wife was called Isabel. There is a marriage record from the parish church, St. John the Baptist, which is very hard to read but her name has been transcribed as Isabel Baylie.
A William Baylie married Isabell Hollier on 21 Jan 1553 in Nether Whitacre, Warwickshire, some 30 miles from Hillmorton. These are listed as her parents. However, no evidence has been given to make this connection. It is possible that they are, but until proof is offered, they should remain uncertain.
Michael Gater and Isabel Baylie, were the parents of [[Gater-32|Judith Gater]], who immigrated to America in 1631 on the ''Lyon''. Michael and Isabel were married in Hillmorton, Warwckshire, England 13 November 1576. Ann Gater who married Thomas Wright on 29 July 1600 was probably also their daughter.Walter Goodwin Davis, “The Ancestry of Dudley Wildes, 1759-1820, of Topsfield, Massachusetts”, Portland, Maine, 1959, page 87.
Michael and Isabel had the following children, who appear in the Hillmorton parish register freely available with original images at familysearch.org (the link to Judith's baptism is provided, the other children all appear on subsequent pages of the same register):
#Alice Gater baptized 5 Feb 1576/77, buried 22 Mar 1576/77

Isabel is assumed to be the mother of all his children as no other marriage record for Michael Gater was found in the register.
Isabel was buried 25 Oct 1617 in Hillmorton, Warwickshire so presumably died that day or shortly before.Warwickshire > Hillmorton > Baptisms, marriages, burials 1564-1653 > image 29 of 33 https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-6W23-8VX?i=28&cc=1462403 This record is the only "Isabel Gater" found in the burial register through 1653 so is most likely her even though there is no notation "wife of" or "widow of". However, this register consistently fails to note relationships so this omission is not surprising.
