According to [[Capen-88|Rev. Joseph Capen's]] diary, a meeting was held in the parlor of his Topsfield home on 13 Jun 1692. Bad blood had existed since 1686 when [[Gould-257|John Gould]] had been imprisoned for treason after criticizing the government. Capen, Gould and Towne would be joined by [[How-189|John How]]. A month later Jacob's sister [[Towne-4|Mary Estey]] and How's sister-in-law [[Jackson-4419|Elizabeth How]] would be hanged for witchcraft in Salem.
Jacob died November 22, 1704 and was buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Topsfield, Essex County, Massachusetts.
