=== Biographical Discourse ===:According to the author Connie Lapallo, whose book titled "Dark Enough To See The Stars in A Jamestown Sky," [[Unknown-316516|Cecily Jordan Farrar's]] first husband was Thomas Bailey. Her maiden name was Reynolds, born in 1600 & arrived in Jamestown in 1611. [[Unknown-316516|Cecily Reynolds]] is the daughter of [[Phippen-17|Joan Phippen]] (1580-1650) and Thomas? Reynolds who died @ 1600 in a ship wreck. Cecily stayed in England and was sent for in 1611. [[Phippen-17|Joan Phippen]] married second a [[Pierce-336|Captain William Pierce]] in 1601, a lieutenant governor of Virginia Colony. Captain Pierce's brother was probably Thomas Pierce (1582-1622) who was killed in the Indian massacre of 1622 near Mulberry Island.
:::[[Phippen-17|Joan]] married [[Pierce-336|Captain Pierce]] in 1601, who came to Jamestown on a separate ship. [[Pierce-336|Captain Pierce's]] ship was wrecked by the hurricane in 1609. There were actually two other ships that were wrecked by the hurricane. It took almost a year for the crew to rebuild the ship from the remaines of the other and continue sailing onto Jamestown. [[Phippen-17|Joan]] and her younger daughter [[Pierce-335|Jane Pierce]], born about 1605, sailed with Joan to Jamestown in 1609. They survived with three other women during the starving winter by supplementing their cornmeal diet with ground acorns. [[Unknown-316516|Cecily Reynolds]] arrived in Jamestown in the summer of 1611, her mother and step father, [[Pierce-336|Captain Pierce]] already there. The author states that [[Phippen-17|Joan Phippen's]] mother was a herbalist and taught Joan the many remedies and herbal teas that would be so valuable in her and her daughters survival during the starving time.
:::Even though Connie Lapallo's book is one of historical fiction, she spent 8 long years researching it, and speaks to many historical societies. Her dates, names and events are historically accurate. She even includes dated and verified family trees in her books. Helen Y. Holshouser
