Isaac Stiles

== Biography ==According to Robert Charles Anderson, Isaac's father, John, enrolled as a passenger to New England aboard the "Christian" in 1635, along with with wife Rachel, 28, and children Henry, aged 3, and John, aged 2.[[#S64]] Page 525 Isaac was not named as a passenger. Anderson gives Isaac's birth date as approximately 1638. The Rev. Mr. Sharp an Episcopal clergyman, made a note on Jan. 27, 1710, stating that he baptized Isaac Stiles, 80 years, who was the first male child born in the Connecticut Colony.[[#S65]] Lewis D. Cook, "Register of the Rev. John Sharpe, Chaplain to the Queen's Forces in New York, 1707-1712," 35:184-185 That would give a birth year of about 1630, however that birth year does not agree with the fact that he was not a passenger on the "Christian" in 1635. Stiles states that the Hon. James Savage commented: "Of course, if the ''first'' male child born in Conn., he would not be more than 76, instead of 80 years. Perhaps his mental faculties, in Jan., 1710-11, were infirm, so that he might not judge rightly of his own age; and the Reverend officiating priest was perhaps too ignorant of the history to correct his venerable catechumen's error." [[#S63]] Page 407 Isaac married Hannah --- by about 1663. Neither Anderson nor Stiles gives a maiden name for Hannah.
