== Biography == The following is from "The Ishams in England and America", compiled by Homer Worthington Brainard, and published Rutland, Vermont, 1938.Sir Euseby Isham (Gregory6, Euseby5, Thomas4, William3, Robert2, Robert1)resided at Braunston, Northamptonshire and at Pytchley, Northamptonshire, England. Euseby, of Pytchley and Braunston, born 26 February 1552/3, died 11 June 1626 at Pytchley, and buried at the church there, son of Gregory and Elizabeth. He married Anne, died in December 1627, the daughter of John Borlase of Little Marlow, county Bucks. In 1584 he served as high sheriff of Northamptonshire and was knighted by King James I on 11 May 1603. About this time Sir Euseby apparently returned to the Pytchley area to live. Sir Euseby built a beautiful Elizabethan home at Pytchley, celebrated in later days as the headquarters of the Pytchley Hunt, and pulled down in 1828, the remains of the old house being sold. Its old front gates were salvaged and presently adorn the entrance to Overstone Park. In spite of Sir Euseby's position or his beautiful home it is said he passed away "none to wealthy", though the burden of providing for a large family. Rev. Henry Isham of London who did a great deal of his research says, it is from this point that the branch at Pytchley [footnote: There was another branch at Lamport which about this same time was increasing in wealth and position.] began a decline in wealth and position until it became very difficult to trace. For after Sir Euseby and his wife's death their eldest son died and the estate at Pytchley thus passed out of family hands forever.
