[[:Space: Warner Hall|Warner Hall]]. == Biography == Elizabeth, the third daughter of Augustine Warner II, became the wife of John Lewis and inherited Warner Hall. Their son, John Lewis II was a member of His Majesty's Council, and was prominent in the county. For generations the Lewises lived here, and members of the family migrated to all parts of the United States. Their descendants built Belle Farm, Eagle Point, Abingdon, Severby, and Severn Hall, all in Virginia. Elizabeth and John Lewis I's grandson, Colonel Fielding Lewis, of Belle Farm, married Catherine Washington, and after her death married Elizabeth Washington, also known as Betty, sister of George. He built beautiful Kenmore for her, in Fredericksburg.[http://home1.gte.net/mimieric/Augustine.html] Elizabeth Warner moved to Warner Hall with her husband, John Lewis, when her brother died and it became apparent that there were no male heirs for Warner Hall[http://books.google.com/books?id=yeWgvfDpwbwC&pg=PA57&lpg=PA59&focus=viewport&dq=elizabeth+lewis+bolling+warner+hall+Gloucester+virginia&output=html_text][pg.57.Lewis of Warner Hall: The History of a Family, Including the Genealogy of Descendants in Both the Male and Female Lines, Biographical Sketches of Its Members, and Their Descent from Other Early Virginia Families]. They moved there from Chemokins, New Kent County around 1702. She was the mother of fourteen children, some of who were baptized in Abingdon Parish and Hening' s Statute-at-Large in Glouchester. Her older children were obviously baptized in New Kent County. Many of the children did not live to adulthood. The children that did live to adulthood that are cited in various sources were : 1) John Lewis , born before 1701 in New Kent County. 2) Charles Lewis, born before 1701 in New Kent County. 3) Robert Lewis, born at Warner Hall, in August 1704 4) Catherine , baptized 2 November 1705. Twin to Elizabeth, died young. 5) Elizabeth, baptized 2 November 1705. Twin to Catherine, died young. 6) Elizabeth, born 6 May 1706. 7) Isabella, baptized 18 December 1707. 8) Anne, baptized 14 February 1712. 9) Mary, no baptismal or any records have been found on her .She married Major Throckmorten and they had four children but there is no proof that she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Warner Lewis. ==Burial== Elizabeth Warner is buried in the Warner Hall Colonial Family Cemetery[http://home1.gte.net/mimieric/WHG.html] with her husband, John Lewis. He lived at St. Peter's Parish, New Kent Co., Va. and Ware Parish, Gloucester County, VA. Between 1689 and 1702 there were several entries pertaining to John Lewis in the St. Peter's Parish Vestry book in New Kent County where Chemokins was located. He received a large tract of land at Chemokins when his father died. Their first home was probably Chemokins as Elizabeth's brother Robert had inherited Warner Hall from his mother. On 5 January 1695 a John Lewis was elected Vestryman for St. Peter's Parish. In the minutes of 4 March 1702 "Mr. John Lewis lately departed this county." This is perhaps when they moved to Warner Hall, which became their home. In 1704 he [John, the younger] was appointed to Council, one of only 12 members at that time and sworn in 26 June 1707. He served for 20 years until his death. On 2 Sep 1707 he was appointed Commander of King and Queen County, Va. In 1717 he owned in fee-simple Chemokins alias Port Holy, a tract in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent County which he deeded that year to his son Charles. Some of the early baptismal records of his children referred to him as "Captain", but he soon rose to the rank of Colonel and most of the records of the eighteenth century accord him that title. Councilor Lewis was perhaps the wealthiest Virginian of his day and certainly no contemporary Virginian was of higher standing. In 1704 the Nicholson's Rent Roll shows John Lewis' holdings included 2000 acres in Abingdon Parish, Gloucester Co.; 300 acres in York Co.; 2600 acres in New Kent Co.; and several grants in King & Queen Co., the largest 10,100 acres. The 2600 acres in New Kent Co. is the exact size of the Chemokins estate. His brother Edward inherited their father's estate on Poropotank Creek in King & Queen County. === Note ===: Note: http://lewisathome.com/lewis/book/chapter-9-councilor-john-lewis/ :: Col George Reade and Elizabeth Martiau Reade had at least eight children, the oldest being their daughter Mildred, who married Col Augustine Warner, Junior.:: Colonel Augustine Warner, Senior, was born November 28, 1610 and immigrated to Virginia as early as 1628 but before 1642. His coat of arms is of the Welsh family Warner. He is believed to have acquired the land where he built Warner Hall in 1635. He married a woman named Mary whose maiden name is not known. They had a son Augustine Warner Junior and a daughter Sarah.:: Colonel Augustine Warner Senior?s daughter Sarah married Lawrence Townley and is the great-great-great grandmother of General Robert E. Lee.:: Augustine Warner, Junior, also known as Speaker Warner, inherited Warner Hall when his father died.He was Speaker of the Assembly / Burgess, and later was elevated to one of 12 members of the Governor?s Council. He married Mildred Reade, daughter of Col George Reade and granddaughter of Nicholas Martiau. They had three sons and three daughters. (photos):: Children include: John, Charles (of the Byrd), Robert (Robert of Belvoir):: Councilor John and Elizabeth?s oldest son John II inherited Warner Hall. John II?s oldest son, Warner Lewis, inherited Warner Hall. John II?s third son, Fielding Lewis, was a great patriot in the revolution supplying many of the cannons to the General Washington?s army, married George Washington?s sister Betty and had his residence at Kenmore. The Kenmore estate is well preserved today, and is open to the public to visit.:: There are many Vestry meeting notes in New Kent Parish mentioning Councilor John, and some of the meetings were held at his home Chemokens. Another prominent vestyman was Captain Nicholas Meriwether, whose daughter Jane married Councilor John?s third son Robert. :: Sorely Notes::: Speaker Warner married Mildred Reade. Their daughter Elizabeth was born 1672 at Chesake in Glocester County, before Speaker Warner moved to Warner Hall in 1674.:: Speaker Warner died June 19, 1681 at age 39. A portrait of Speaker Warner hung in the library of William and Mary college in 1935.:: Mildred Reade Warner died 1694.
