William Marche, of Sherford, county Devon, yeoman, was probably the son of John Marche who was charged in the court of the manor of Stokenham, with diverting the water at Allymore from its right course, so that it could not run to the mill of the lord of the manor.

: Will: 29 Apr 1612, Sherford, Devon, England:: In his will, William Marche, the Elder, bequeathed 40s. to his surviving son, George, and 6s. 8d to each of his daughters and to each of the seven children of his deceased son, Richard. He directed that he be buried in the parish church of Sherford. The residue of his estate he left to his daughter-in-law, Joane Marche, widow of his son Richard, whom he appointed executor. Only farm animals - horses, cattle, sheep, hogs, geese, and poultry - were listed in the inventory.
