White, Duncan Warrand and Lord Howard de Walden, editors, The Complete Peerage of England, Scotland, Ireland, Great Britain and the United Kingdom, Extant, Extinct or Dormant, new ed., 13 volumes in 14 (1910-1959; reprint in 6 volumes, Gloucester, U.K.: Alan Sutton Publishing, 2000), volume VI, page 258. He married Janet Keith, daughter of Robert Keith, Master of Marischal and Lady Elizabeth Douglas, on 6 February 1542/43.Mosley, Charles, editor. He gained the title of 7th Lord Glamis. He was imprisoned and sentenced to be executed, but was respited until he should attain majority, in the interim, he was ordered to be closely confined and his estates declared forfeited. On the death of King James V, he was released and restored to his estates and honours by Parliament, 15 March 1542/3. He died before 18 September 1559.
