===Origins===The family of armigers were of Dethick, Derbyshire as early ''temp. Hen III''. During the reign of Edward III (c. 1327-77), Sir Geoffrey ''or Godfrey'' Dethick and Robert Dethick, Esq. married two coheiresses of Annesley.

: John Dethick, who was of Breadsall, in 1569, married a Powtrell, who was, on her mother's side, the heiress of Bassett, of Muschamp. The heiress of Dethick of Breadsall married Harpur about the year 1600.

Humphrey Dethick, who was living in 1569, and who seems to have been the last of the family, married one of the coheiresses of Longford.
