He married Elizabeth le Scrope, daughter of Sir John Scrope, 4th Lord Scrope of Masham, Treasurer of England and Elizabeth Chaworth, circa 1435. They had 4 sons (Sir John, 5th Lord Scrope of Bolton; Richard, Esq; Ralph, Archdeacon of Northumberland; & Robert, Esq.) and 4 daughters (Elizabeth, wife of Sir John Bigod, of Henry Rochford, Esq., & of Oliver St. John, Esq; Margaret, wife of William Plessington, Esq., of Hugh Stafford, & of John Bernard, Esq; Agnes, wife of Sir Christopher Boynton, & Sir Richard Ratcliffe;& Eleanor, a nun).
