:"Lewis Raglan of Llys-y-Fronydd, Lysworney par., co, Glamorgan, esq., was the fifth son of Robert Raglan, esq., and Joan Clerke, and founder of the junior branch of the Ragland family. He married Jane, daughter of Llewelyn ap Evan David. Some records indicate that he acquired the manor of Llys-y-Fronydd as the result of this marriage and other records state that he purchased the manor from his brother, Thomas. According to Clark,"Clark" "the "op. cit." footnote at the end of this sentence, is referring to ''Limbus Patrum Morganiae et Glamorganiae,'' published by George T. Clark, 1886 ([[#Vol I]]) on the death of Thomas, ca. 1500, Llys-y-Fronydd and additional landholdings in Llandow parish were passed to Lewis.op. cit., limbus Patrum Morganiae et Glamorganiae. Irregardless of the manner by which it was acquired, it was without question in the possession of Lewis soon after 1500. Lewis Raglan used the arms of three unicorns which were the arms of his mother's family (Clerkes). He married twice and had two children by his first wife and a daughter by his second. Lewis died at his seat at Llys-y-Fronydd in 1526. His children were as follows:*I. Robert Raglan of Llys-y-Fronydd, esq., eldest child and only son of Lewis Raglan and his first wife, Jane David, inherited the manor of Llys-y-Fronydd from his father. He married Alice Mathew, the daughter of William ap Robert Mathew of Castell-y-Mynach, co. Glamorgan, esq., and by her had seven children. ...*II.
