Sarah and William were probably married in Nansemond County, Virginia, where they lived until about 1714 when they moved across the border to the Chowan Precinct of North Carolina (which was contiguous with Nansemond County, Virginia). About 1714 William witnessed one of his neighbor's land transactions. "Genealogical Abstracts of Deed Books 1696-1723" by Margaret M. Hofmann; citing Deed Book-W, Chowman County, North Carolina; p202 for #414 on 28 Nov 1713, from Patricak and Patience LAUGHLER to John ALSTON, 50 acres more or less, on the south east side of Bennetts Creek for 100 pounds of tabacco; & p203 for #415 on 16 April 1714/15, 5000 pounds of tabacco for the "Black Swamp Plantation"; witnesses: Treddle KEEFE, Thomas MARTIN, Thomas WIGANS & William VANN
Sarah was named as the executor of her husband's 1735 will, which named a son Edward and daughters Sarrah Hogh and Ann Vann, and a grandson: William Vann, the son of Edward.
